How the Best Insurance Marketer Makes the Most $$$ and Generates the Most Insurance Leads

August 29th, 2010

For about twelve years now we have been studying the difference between insurance agents and financial advisors whose businesses are successful, and others who struggle just to pay the rent. How in the world can you have two agents who work in the same town, work with the same prospects; and have one who is making a six-figure income yearly while the other just barely pay the bills. Is one more intelligent than the other? We highly doubt it!

If intelligence was the issue, every college professor would be a millionaire. The smartest kid in your high school class wouldn’t be working for the dumb kid in your town who grew up to be one of the richest men in town.

If you give a million dollars to an intelligent person who did not earn it, they will more than likely blow it within 12 to 24 months. However, if you have someone who earned a million dollars with intelligent business practices, but his business fails for some unknown reason, he will more than likely earn back his money. Why is that?

The reason is, it is not money that makes money. It is specialized knowledge that makes money. It is the knowledge of marketing principles that make a business succeed independently of financial backing.

The difference in the success of our business comes down to our ability to market and promote our services and products to people.

The truth is specialized knowledge of the right principles – like marketing to people – can give you a huge competitive edge! You need to understand the following:

You are in Three Insurance Businesses

First, you are in the insurance business.

The second business you are in is the people business. Because it is the people who will buy your insurance products. The people are who will refer you to other people. In addition, unless you understand that you are in the people business, you will find it hard to make a good living in this business.

The third business you are in the insurance business of marketing. No matter what business you are in, you must market your services and products. We cannot emphasize it enough: Marketing is the lifeblood of every business! It is like flossing your teeth. It is not something you look forward to doing when you wake up in the morning, but if you do not, it will lead to pain and agony down the road. It is also something that the more you do, the better you get at it. Of course, the more you do, the easier it becomes. In fact, two things you really ought to make part of your daily routine are flossing and marketing.

Another thing you should know about marketing is that it’s a process. It is not an event. It is not something you try once and see how it works. It is something you do all the time. Again, it is a process. The more you work the process into your daily business, the more it will work for you. The more knowledge you have on marketing, the better marketer you will become. Thus, your commissions are governed by how well you market in this business.

What you need to learn is, you are a marketer first, and an insurance professional second. Until you learn this principle you will never make the kind of money to may desire.

Remember, this one principle:

It is a fact… the best marketers make the most money and generate the most Insurance Leads!

Unfortunately, the reality is that 90-95% of all insurance agents we speak with, are not marketing at the level they can or should be, or just are not marketing at all!

Many agents are in a comfort zone. They are living, more often dying, off the referrals onto which they accidentally stumble. In addition, when we ask these agents for a specific, systematic marketing plan, the conversation goes silent. Remember this statement, “Marketing is the ONLY function of your business that makes you money!” “Every other function is an expense!”

If you just sit back and wait for the home office to develop a new marketing approach, or wait for another miracle to happen, you are costing yourself thousands of dollars. You need to optimize your time, money, and talents to become the top marketer in your field. We still believe insurance agents have a right to make a six-figure income and to enjoy life to the fullest. We know of agents driving cars that have 150,000 hard traveled miles on the speedometer. If they would just become a top marketer in this field, they could drive any car they want and earn the income they desire.

As you read this manual, you will discover a number of marketing strategies that will make you a top marketer. You will learn from countless years of testing hundreds of different marketing strategies from both our office and a number of other top marketers.

All you have to do is take the time to study these strategies and start implementing them into your business.

The most important system to create in your business is an effective marketing system. Moreover, an effective marketing system is one that delivers predictable results from repetitive use.

The end result of using the marketing techniques described in detail in this manual will provide the maximum-effectiveness with a predictable income. For that to happen you must:

Have a Insurance lead and Annuity lead marketing system in place that predictably, reliably, consistently, affordably and efficiently provides you with more qualified prospects than you can handle.

When we mail one thousand postcards per week, our response is at least 5%. Our response is from prospects who want additional information in a form of a “FREE REPORT” or an “Agents’ Starter Kit.”

It is this kind of predictability that you can build into your marketing, and it is a great feeling knowing you have a predictable income.

Enlisting in the Army – How to Prepare For the ASVAB Test

August 22nd, 2010

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is a qualification that anyone interested in Army enlistment will have to achieve. The ASVAB scores applicants in four areas, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension and Mathematics Knowledge, in order to ensure high quality servicemen and women enter the armed forces.

The ASVAB is more than just a test or an obstacle to overcome. High scores ensure that the military knows how qualified each applicant truly is. This translates into greatly improving the chances that each recruit can get the specialty job that they want along with the best sign-on bonuses for Army enlistment.

Let’s take a look at some of the best strategies to prepare and excel at the ASVAB.

Schedules And Study Plans

Like any complex task, preparing for an exam requires a solid plan and study schedule. Setting out a time line to allow sufficient time to study is essential; cramming at the last moment will not work for the ASVAB. Lie out each topic and section of the exam on a time line and tackle each task one at a time. Being able to knock off one section after the other at a steady pace will inspire confidence come test day.

Practice Does Make Perfect

Practice tests are the best way to actually prepare for the ASVAB. Taking as many practice tests that one can find will dramatically improve performance. Start with a casual run through of a practice test to get a handle on the types of questions that each section contains. Then, begin to work faster and simulate an actual test with time constraints. Practice will make perfect.

Make sure to utilize online resources to the fullest. There are numerous free practice exams and test guides online to supplement the study effort. After a few run-throughs, focus on the most difficult areas and improve on them. Don’t neglect any section or question type, scoring high in all areas is the best way to pass the exam with flying colors.

How To Answer Multiple Choice Questions

There is a science all its own to answering multiple choice questions. Every question will have four possible answers, be worth one point each, and follow the same format; this can be used to each test taker’s advantage.

First and foremost, do not leave any answer blank. There is no reason not to make an educated guess, as incorrect answers are not penalized. It is a good idea to eliminate any answers that are obviously wrong. Narrowing down a choice to one of two choices is a 50-50 shot at a correct answer. For a particularly hard question, feel free to skip it and come back, but make sure to fill in an answer for each corresponding question. Finally, most studies indicate that the first answer that a person selects is usually right; don’t panic and change answers.

Overall, the ASVAB is entirely manageable with good study habits, a plan of study, and practice with the test itself. Add in a good night’s sleep, eating a nutritious breakfast, and an early arrival at the testing site, and the ASVAB will not be an obstacle for Army enlistment.

Does God Tempt Or Test?

August 16th, 2010

This is a question that many Christians have not thought about and perhaps those that have thought of it might not have really understood it. There is a great difference between a tempt and a test. To tempt simply means to entice someone to do evil or wrong, the main purpose of a tempt is to see someone fall, it is hitting on the weak point of man by presenting something pleasurable or a gain to see that he falls but a test is a critical examination, observation or evaluation.

A test is a basis of evaluation or assessment to see your standing or how well you have done, that is why at the end of every semester in schools teachers give a test or exam to assess if the students properly understood what was thought, the purpose here is to see how well the student will do and to make him know his stand academically and not to make him fail.

God does not tempt, he tests because temptation is evil and God is righteous the bible made it clear in James 1:13(NASB) Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. He does not entice anyone to do wrong because it is not his plan to see His creation (Man) fail.

He cannot tempt because if He does no man can overcome it because He knows every man inside out, He knows our weaknesses and therefore cannot entice us with evil. Genesis 22:1(NASB) now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” God tests a man so the man will see his standing and weigh himself so he could make any necessary adjustment. A test can either be passed or failed, a good student after passing a class test rejoices in the fact that he has learnt well but if he fails he realizes that he has not learned enough and he puts effort to learn properly so he does not fail the next time. When God tests man He places man in a scale.

Many people then ask if God does not tempt why then does He allow temptation come our way, it is true that He does not tempt but He permits temptation like He permitted the devil to tempt Job and Jesus. 1 Corinthians 10:13(NASB) No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. God allows us to be tempted because He knows we can overcome and give Him praise and He is not a wicked God that will allow a temptation that is mightier than us come our way.

He is a faithful God and understands our different levels and faith in our work with Him and He is able to carry us through temptations. He allows the devil tempt us so the devil will be put to shame and to make us realize our victory in Christ Jesus. Now there is a difference when God allows temptations come our way and when we look for temptations our way, for example in the case of lust. And at this point we Christians should not blame on God when we fall because we sought to be tempted because it is not Him who permitted it.

God is the tester that checks if you are active or inactive, dead or alive in faith, He checks your standing, devil is the tempter that wants to see your downfall so he would mock your faith and God.

Agoraphobia Test

August 16th, 2010

If you’re unsure if you have agoraphobia, take an agoraphobia test that might help you clear a few things up. It can help you find out if you have it and if you need help.

Agoraphobia Is An Anxiety Disorder

Agoraphobia is one of the anxiety disorders. It is generally preceded by panic attacks that turn into a panic disorder. It’s estimated that 1 in 3 people with a panic disorder will develop agoraphobia.

When a person has many panic attacks and starts adjusting their lifestyle because of it, which is understandable, it becomes a panic disorder.

Panic attacks are terrible when they happen in a public place. It’s one thing to get it in the privacy of your home, but in public, you can feel embarrassed and humiliated.

Agoraphobia Is Like A Trap

In a slow and natural way, you can fall into a trap of avoiding places, people and situations for fear of getting an attack.

For example, if you happened to get a panic attack in the subway, and it happened again on the subway, you may associate the subway with the attack and totally avoid it.

These situations increase. Pretty soon, you start to shut yourself off from nearly everything for fear of having a panic attack. You don’t go anywhere unless accompanied by someone.

Get Help And Get Well

Luckily, there is lots of help available for agoraphobia. This help can be in the form of drugs, therapy, natural or alternative methods. You’ll also need to make lifestyle changes if you want to get well.

Getting well can be done. It’s harder for some and may take longer. It may be hard and frightening work, but in the end, it has to be done and it CAN be done with help, patience and perseverance, or it can last for years!

So go ahead and take the agoraphobia test. If you think you have it, then make the move to get some form of help. Making this move is the first step on your road to recovery.

Life in the UK Test – Journey to British Citizenship

August 11th, 2010

The naturalization process in the United Kingdom includes as a first step the “Life in the United Kingdom” test that needs to be attached to the citizenship application. The test is meant to evaluate the English level and UK experience of the applicant in every day matters as well as politics, economy and historical facts. The test is a civic rights compendium that prepares the future citizen to face its responsibilities and privileges as UK citizen.

As an alternative to the test for non English speaking countries immigrants is available a sections of courses called ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) The course contains “language with civic content”, in a way is a step by step resource book for immigrants. At the en of the course the applicant will be rewarded with a certificate that suffices the English level skills needed for the citizenship application and will allow them to sit for the Life in the UK test.

The test can be taken as many times necessary by the applicant. The passing score is a 75% of correct answers (18 out of 24). The questions are based on the Life in the UK resource book second edition “Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship”. The testable content goes from chapter 2 to 6 as of 2007 where the test book was enhanced with everyday matters such as housing, health, money and education aspects of the UK life. The test can be taken in three languages; English, Scottish and Welsh upon applicant request however more oftenly is taken in English.

The UK citizenship resource book can be bought at local library shops or online through the Border Agency website. Bare in mind that the test is regionalized, so is the resource book. For example for an candidates located in Wales will be asked about the Welsh assembly and not the Scottish Parliament. The tests are also tailored by regions. Is highly recommendable to get the latest version of the resource book from the candidate’s residence area.

The test itself has also a fee, £34.00 per sit. The candidate needs to book the test in one of the 27 centers scattered all over the UK through the test website or calling the call center. The 24 questions come from a confidential pool of 300 out of the 24,000 words of the testable content in the resource book. The test stresses in the citizenship responsibilities and obligations such as election participation and police enforcements.

The applicant has 45 minutes to complete the computer based test of 24 questions. The results are immediate so the applicant can retake the test on the sport if there is availability in the center at that particular moment. The failure of the test does not affect the applicant residency status or VISA at any level. The applicant will be handled with a letter with the test score and code that needs to be added to the naturalization form so the citizenship process can be started. Keep the notification letter safe, the UK Border Agency might not be able to reproduce the letter which would mean that the applicant will have to take the test again if the letter is not in his possession.

The ESOL course completion needs to be added as well if taken. There are no additional language test or grammar English questions included in the Life in the UK test. The ESOL course or the sole understanding of the English used to build the questions is proof enough that the candidate has the English level to become a citizen.

The Border Agency offers resources to prepare candidates for the test as well as the ESOL course. There are many online features in the BA webpage that can be used to be better prepared to face the citizenship test. There are also many third party training courses available in the web that have proved satisfactory results. The citizenship test is not impossible, so study hard and it will pass by smoothly.

Test Taking Anxiety – Five Proven Strategies For Overcoming Test Anxiety and Passing Your Exam

August 2nd, 2010

Do you suffer from test taking anxiety? If you are, you probably have heard that stressing about tests isn’t helpful. But relaxing is easier said than done. Read on to discover some test anxiety tips that will help you with overcoming test anxiety and improve your performance.

Test taking anxiety often makes it hard to study, and even harder to do well on the exam. So you have to find a way to reduce that stress. If you’re stressed, your thinking becomes fuzzy, your brain won’t absorb the information, much less retrieve it when you need it for your test. And all that only increases your stress and anxiety. What a vicious cycle!

So what can you do to calm down? Here are a few suggestions:

1. Take a walk in the park

Exercise, especially in nature, has a very calming effect. If you can’t go outside, exercise indoors. It helps your body clear out those stress hormones and produce more calming hormones instead.

2. Breathe

Taking slow, deep breaths has a very calming effect on your body. It stimulates the vagus nerve, which will soothe your frazzled nervous system. Listening to slow baroque or New Age music while lying down can slow your breathing almost automatically. And yes, be sure to breathe into your belly for effective stress reduction.

3. Count sheep — backwards

Preferably in sevens. Or do something else that is mildly absorbing but very low stress. You can recite a mantra or affirmations, or even read an utterly boring book. This is great for relieving your test anxiety so you can sleep.

4. Try aromatherapy

Aromatherapy bypasses your conscious brain and goes right to the emotional limbic brain. That’s part of what makes it so effective. You can get a calming blend, or try lavender, the classic stress relief scent.

5. Try EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

You’ll find that EFT is an amazingly effective technique for calming you down. You tap certain acupressure points while repeating certain statements, and you will feel calmer within minutes. It’s very powerful and can be done anywhere.

All of the above techniques will help you calm down so you can study effectively. However, what are you supposed to do about overcoming your test anxiety while you’re taking your exam?

True, you won’t be able to go for a walk during the test, and counting sheep may not be quite appropriate either. Neither will you be able to listen to calming music. But you CAN do the other three things to relieve your stress.

Breathe slowly and deeply. Just count while you breathe — four counts while breathing in, four counts while holding your breath, and four to eight counts while breathing out. Try to increase the counts, especially while you’re exhaling. The slower you’ll breathe, the better it works (within reason).

You can also bring some valerian essential oil to sniff on, and you can do some inconspicuous tapping. And, most importantly, keep things in perspective — after all, it’s only a test, and whatever happens, you can deal with that later.

Annuities – Federal Regulators Concerned About Equity-Indexed Annuities

August 1st, 2010

I’ve been predicting for some time now that Equity-Indexed Annuities and the sales practices associated with them will be the Next Big Scandal of the financial services industry. And now my predictions are coming true.

After a chorus of complaints, the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) are finally taking notice. In a recent securities conference in Chicago, NASD officials pointedly warned brokerage firms that they are opening themselves up to civil liability where equity-indexed annuities are concerned.

The NASD also clearly asserted its authority to oversee the suitability of transactions involving equity-indexed annuities. “Whenever unsuitable recommendations are made, we have jurisdiction”, said Jim Shorris of the NASD.

This is good news for investors and bad news for the charlatans that have been using this product to milk seniors out of thousands and thousands of dollars. Now, those investors can turn to the NASD for help. The actions of the NASD also increase the potential success of civil lawsuits brought by investors.

It’s not just the NASD that is taking notice. Recently, I was invited by the Financial Planning Association to participate in a conference call with several SEC officials. The SEC had looked into equity-indexed annuities several years ago but failed to take action. Let’s hope that this time it will be different.

You might not think that NASD or SEC involvement is all that revolutionary, but it is. Let me explain. Brokers who are licensed to sell investments are regulated at the Federal level. The NASD and SEC police their actions.

Equity Indexed Annuities, though, are not regulated at the federal level, but by each state’s Insurance Commissioner. Even though Equity Indexed Annuities are technically an insurance product, they are being marketed as an investment. But all an agent has to do to be able to sell them is sit through a five-day course and pass a simple test on health and life insurance.

It used to be that Equity-Indexed Annuities were mainly sold by independent insurance agents. Now, they are being sold by brokers who work for the larger brokerage firms. The high commissions these products pay are simply too enticing. Worse, these brokers aren’t selling them under the umbrella of their firm. They are selling them as what is termed an ‘outside business activity’.

That means that even though you are talking to a person that works for a big brokerage house and that person is recommending you sell your variable annuity, pay a penalty and move the money into an equity-indexed annuity, the firm is not policing that transaction. Every other trade done by the broker must meet strict compliance and regulatory standards. The sales of equity-indexed annuities do not.

If an advisor were to place 100% of a client’s investable assets into a variable annuity or a single stock or mutual fund, they would likely face fines and possible revocation of their license. At the very least, they would be opening up themselves and their firm to potential lawsuits. Yet, I often hear of advisors telling a client that they should put 100% of their money into Equity Indexed Annuities.

Under federal regulation, an advisor can’t recommend a client pay a 7% penalty to get out of one annuity and move then move that money into another high commission product. That’s just like a stockbroker getting you to constantly buy and sell stocks so they can earn a commission-it’s called churning. Yet, I see advisors using the ‘bonus’ offered by some Equity Indexed Annuities to do just that.

Now that the NASD has clearly stated that these advisors can no longer sell equity indexed annuities outside of their firm’s regulatory umbrella, hopefully some of these unethical sales practices will be put to a stop. But investors need to beware! The high commissions these products offer, sometimes as high as 13%, are just too tempting for many advisors to ignore. Don’t expect them to change their ways overnight.

The increased scrutiny of equity-indexed annuities can only be good for the investor. Carefully research this and any other investment before you buy. Otherwise, it might be an investment you quickly regret.

Tips to Pass Your Driving Test

July 20th, 2010

Getting your driver’s license is the first step to independence. But first, there’s that pesky matter for a driving test to pass. You might find some of these tips helpful if you still don’t feel confident even after all those hours spent on the driving course.

Get to know the route you’ll take for your driving test. Familiarizing yourself with the test route allows you identify any potential hazards or spots you may have difficulty navigating. Keep an eye out for intersections, crosswalks and one-way streets that may complicate your test. Have a few practice runs on the route so you don’t get flustered on the big day. An alert companion or driving instructor can help pinpoint any mistakes you make.

Talk to people who have taken their driving test recently. They can be a good source of driving tips, especially if they were tested on the same route as you will be. Compare their driving experience with your own and be prepared to adjust as needed.

Arrive early at the test center on the day of your driving test. Doing so gives you time to relax and calm your nerves than if you’re very nervous. Have confidence in your driving abilities. Your driving instructor would never have allowed you to attend the test if he didn’t think you were ready! Try not to feel self-conscious. The examiner is only there to examine your driving and nothing more.

It’s easy to freeze up with fear when the test begins. Good driving test tips to follow here are to keep breathing and take things one step at a time. Don’t beat yourself up over minor mistakes but correct them if you can. Only the examiner can tell you if you’ve failed.

A driving test can be a nerve-wracking experience. You should remember that it takes place primarily to ensure you’re fully capable of handling a vehicle alone on the road.

A Physical Attraction Test to Test a Woman’s Interest

July 16th, 2010

For many guys in relationships, physical attraction to their partner can waver. Often, men find other women physically attractive as they are out on the town. Occasionally, men will find it a physical attraction test as they go out; they will be with their wives, girlfriends, or friends, and notice someone else more than they may notice their significant other.

Some people see this is as normal; they feel that going outside and feeling it to be a physical attraction test simply means that you are going through natural feelings. Other people, however, believe that going outside and feeling it to be a physical attraction test is bad.

What are the reasons that people can find themselves with a physical attraction test? There are multiple reasons that people may look around to see how others look. Some simply harmlessly look at others; while they do not plan on doing anything about it, they cannot help but notice someone that is attractive.

This is somewhat normal; people do not stop finding others attractive simply because they are now in a relationship. If anything, a relationship does not change a thing as far as that are concerned; people are always going to find more than one person attractive. What can really throw someone off, however, is if they cannot handle their thoughts, and are constantly looking at someone else.

So why would someone be consistently looking at others instead of the person that they have? People find their everyday activities as a physical attraction test for multiple reasons, but one main reason is a lack of being attracted to the person that they are with.

If someone is not attracted to the person that they are with, their eyes will wander more than usual. It is normal for eyes to wander, but for every day to be a physical attraction test, that should be addressed. If someone has gotten into a relationship with someone, however, why are they having physical attraction tests wherever they go?

Sometimes, people have found that while they do like the person that they are with, the person is not their “ideal” physical type.

While many people are able to look past this, there are others who have placed too much on looks; while the person may have the most amazing personality, and be perfect for them, they feel as if they are settling for someone lower simply for looks. For others, they find their partner attractive, but they realize that they are not the “prettiest” and feel the need to look around.

If someone is dealing with physical attraction tests every time they go out in public, they may need to reevaluate a few things. Some may need to reevaluate the importance they put on looks in terms of a relationship. Others may need to reevaluate their relationship to understand if they are really happy. For some people, however, if they are not attracted, then they cannot be in the relationship.

The Anatomy Of A Rescue At Sea – How Quick Action And Common Sense Saved A Life

July 15th, 2010

It was a beautiful summer day on Fire Island. There was a light breeze out of the south, typical at that time of year. Residents of bayfront homes were enjoying the day on their front decks overlooking the bay. One or two of them had their small boats tied at the bulkhead. From time to time a sailboat or power boat or passenger ferry would pass by, a thousand feet or so away, out in the main channel.

A small sailboat came into view. There appeared to be two people aboard, moving about, seeming to exert a great deal of effort without much evident result. People on shore commented that one of two things was probably happening – either there was trouble of some kind with the boat, or the sailors were inexperienced in the handling of sailboats.

In a flash, one of the two people fell overboard. There was a great deal of thrashing about in the water. The sailboat continued on, its remaining occupant running back and forth in the boat. There were no other boats in the vicinity.

On shore, a homeowner and his son looked at each other and, with one voice, said “Let’s go!” They ran to the son’s small power boat at the bulkhead and raced to the scene. The victim, who was not wearing a life jacket, was thrashing about wildly in a state of panic. She was extremely heavy. Father and son realized that there was no way to bring her aboard the boat; the only recourse was to tow her to shore. The father placed her hands on the gunwale and held them there tightly while the son operated the boat slowly toward the shore. Both of them tried as best they could to calm her down, assuring her that she was safe now and would soon be on shore.

The tide was running out, so the point of arrival of the boat back to shore would not be the same as the point of departure. The boat made its way back to the bulkhead, where father and son told the woman to “put your feet down, you can stand up!” – which was so, for the water was only about three feet deep there.

Now she was safe, but the problem remained – how to get her up and over the top of the bulkhead? The father heard a sound that he recognized – the sound of a Cushman motor scooter, which meant “Police.” Perfect! Father ran to the young policeman, quickly outlined the facts, and said “What we need to do is rig up a ladder to get her up and over the top of the bulkhead.” The policeman ran to the bulkhead, sized up the situation very quickly, and had the commendable presence of mind to ask whether everyone was all right – he asked not only the victim, but the father and son as well. He sped to the local small food market not too far away and commandeered a dolly, which was brought back to the scene immediately. The policeman placed the dolly in the water. It served very well as a ladder. Up and over came the victim, still distraught, but safe. She was too upset to say “thanks” to anyone; but the father took note of the policeman’s shield number and sent a note of commendation later to the Chief of Police.

The father and the son remember that day vividly, though it happened decades ago. I was there. I know both of them well.
